| Bob
Murphy has been Vice President or President of prestigious US apparel
companies throughout his career; L. Greif, Landlubber, Izod, Gleneagles
division of Hartmarx to name a few. Bob is a technology and management
innovator. Inspired by an article on laser cutting in Popular Mechanics
in the late sixties, he calculated that using common lines to cut
men’s suit parts would save millions of dollars per year. As
Vice President of Greif, Bob purchased the first computer-aided cutting
machine, a laser, led the design of a CAD system to drive it, and
was promoted to the company’s presidency as a result of the
success. Bob has provided industry leadership as regional vice president
of the Clothing Manufacturers Association (CMA), a member of the Steering
Committee for Clemson University’s Clemson Apparel Research
(CAR), and as an appointee of the US Secretary of Commerce to the
Maryland/Washington D. C. Export Council. He took over project management
of the first Tower Associates project in 1997 working with an industry
think tank and 13 federal contractors to develop a work-in-process
software tool for the manufacturing floor. Bob holds a BS in engineering

“When we first met, about 30 years ago, Bob Murphy had already built a reputation in the industry as a “mover and shaker”, someone who understood clearly that companies either move forward or back. Bob wanted to be part of the group that was moving forward. Bob still embraces innovation, especially regarding technology, with the same passion today. He brings so much apparel experience to the table that he is always an asset in any situation or company.” Walter
