Jack Smith is a legend in the apparel industry. Jack became Haggar Clothing Company’s storied Vice President and the first non-family member of the company’s Board of Directors. During his Haggar career, he became well known for his natural ability to understand people, and his skill in using this knowledge to help others to obtain their own peak performance. Jack’s career with Haggar began after earning a degree in Industrial Management from Baylor University and a stint in the US Air Force. As a plant management trainee, he then moved through positions for floor to plant to senior management. At retirement, Jack was responsible for an $85 million manufacturing and operations budget and the production of 23 million garments per year. Jack managed the massive build up of Haggar’s domestic capacity and then the conversion to international sourcing. Known for in-house research and development capabilities and on-floor innovative manufacturing technologies and techniques, Jack and Haggar were twice recognized by the US industry as technology All Stars
in the ten year history of the award.
